A Demonstration in front of the Prime Minister's office

As part of this month of action, we invite you to the screening of the film "Red Fields"

Tuesday, 7 November 2006, 19:30

Bat Shalom, 14 King George Street, Jerusalem

Imagine a story about hope, frustration, occupation, globalization and politics, and, at its center, a strawberry. This the film "Red Fields," the work of Ayelet Heller and her Gazan crew, who documented the agricultural cycle of the strawberry and the political events that directly affected the lives of the farmers cultivating this small red fruit. From the strawberry fields of Beit Lahiya, we witness the Disengagement, withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza and its reentrance two months later, the Hamas victory in the Palestinian elections and the subsequent closure. Out of these green fields, red fruit, sky and sea, could emerge a pastoral image of farmers earning their livelihood by working the land. But in Gaza, it is not the laws of nature that rule, but those of the Occupation.
