International Women in Black Conference

The 13th International Conference of Women in Black took place in Jerusalem 12-16 August 2005 under the title "Women Resist Occupation and War". Most of the conference sessions were held in Jerusalem. Part of the conference program included solidarity site visits in Palestine and a demonstration of our opposition to the occupation.

Elisabetta Donini of Turin Women in Black compiled this list, and writes: “However, even if in my opinion this is acceptable as an official record, there is as usual a "hidden side of the history" beyond the written one: Belgrade WIB has been often supported by a lot of organizing work performed by Italian and Spanish women; Luisa and her being a member of the European Parliament was crucial for the Bruxelles meeting..... But to reproduce the personal commitment of individual women as well as the complexity of the networking that has been done behind the scenes we should need a book, not just a list.

So, I think that for now we can be satisfied, waiting for some historian in the future to tell our story.”
